Orcas of the Salish Sea - Fall (ADULT)

Service Description

The Salish Sea School is offering a "Orcas of the Salish Sea 101." This is a experiential learning series that will build a deeper knowledge of the orcas of the Salish Sea, connect you with local organizations studying orcas of the Salish Sea, introduce you to environmental issues affecting local marine life, and provide ideas on how you can help! The course includes four in-person lessons that occur before or after the boat field trips in addition to a Zoom meeting with research scientist Dr. Deborah Giles of Wild Orca, a Zoom meeting with whale biologist Monika Wieland Shields of Orca Behavior Institute, an in-person field trip to Orca Survey Center in Friday Harbor, and a Wine and Orca Design evening of fun. All lessons and boat trips will launch from Skyline Marina in Anacortes. Students will also have access to build community connections on a private Discord channel. We purposefully curate a small, in-person, community learning experience (up to 6 participants). There is not a virtual enrollment option for this course, all 4 lessons occur in-person before or after each of the 4 boat trips.

Cancellation Policy

In the event of any cancellation, regardless of when the cancellation is initiated, the credit card processing fee will not be refunded (3%). Cancellation Refunds vary by course: Spring, Fall, and Winter Programs: if cancelled 5 days prior to the course, the class fee will be refunded to you, less the credit card processing fee (3%). If cancelled any time after that, there will not be a refund for this course. Summer Programs: Cancellations 91+ days prior to session start date = Refundable less CC processing fees & $150 deposit Cancellations between 61 and 90 days prior to session start date = Refundable less CC processing fees & 50% fee of full tuition Cancellations between 0 and 60 days prior to session start date = non-refundable Exceptions to this policy cannot be made for any reason, including weather or personal emergencies. All cancellations must be submitted in writing and must be received in the above time frames. ____ The Pulse: There are no refunds available for our virtual continuing education program.
