About the event
Help Salish Sea School naturalists conduct surveys for the largest Purple Martin nesting site in Washington. Here on the West Coast, Purple Martins rely exclusively on human created nesting sites to rear their young along shorelines. Spend the morning helping survey nest box usage to help Skagit Audubon Society and researchers track the nesting success of these special birds.
No birding experiences is necessary! Our naturalists will train you.
Accessibility Note: The Ship Harbor trail is a dirt 3 feet wide, flat pathway. Our survey site is 0.3 miles from the parking lot and surveying can happen sitting or standing. Please note that there are no public restrooms available and the site is in full sun with no shade.
RSVPS are appreciated!
Ages: All ages welcome!
Please Bring: Sturdy shoes, weather appropriate clothing, water, binoculars (optional - we will have binoculars available for use)
