Guardians of the Sea Jr. is designed to introduce students to the ocean and local marine life in the Salish Sea. It is the perfect program to spark interest in marine ecosystems and understand how it is all connected, from water quality to whales. 

Highlights include:

  • experience incredible marine life (the focus of the Day Program + more!)

  • species identification of marine flora and fauna

  • water and land-based research participation 

  • environmental service hours 

  • small group learning 

  • stress-reduction activities

  • take-home action plans

  • on-going learning community

  • curiosity inspiration through inquiry based learning

  • individual strength recognition
  • STEAM (A for art!) ​​

The ultimate goal is to experience the animals' ecosystem and understand how students can become leaders in marine conservation - seeing whales is never guaranteed. 

Each day includes healthy snacks, lunch, and a stop at an island for a hike, bonfire, or tidal pool exploration. Students will also receive a beanie (to wear on the water) and program specific sticker patch.  More information will be mailed to the participant after the deposit has been received.

how do i become a guardian of the sea?

If you choose to enroll in ALL four of the days, you will become an official Guardian of the Sea Jr.!

 

You will also receive a Guardians of the Sea graduation certificate, special hat with our special yellow trident, and be eligible to attend Guardians of the Sea - Advanced to continue work and/or coordinate more local marine research projects. Special Discount available with a four day enrollment, see below.
