Sunset Beach, Sunset Beach, Anacortes, WA 98221, USA
About the event
Want to connect with real-life scientists studying orcas and other marine mammals?
Want to connect with other students who care about the environment?
Want to eat s'mores while doing it?
You're in luck. We're gathering around the fire in Washington Park (Anacortes) with local scientists, Cindy Elliser and Zackery Woods.
Cindy Elliser is a marine mammal scientist who founded Pacific Mammal Research, and is the Associate Director of the Salish Sea Institute. Not only is she the harbor porpoise whisperer, she has a ton of experience with other marine mammals. It also doesn't hurt that she's exceedingly pleasant!
Zackery Woods is a student researcher at Western Washington University. He's also a drone pilot that gets permission to record videos of whales. Think that's cool? Come talk to him about it.
