Service Description

Orca Immersion: Sunset Adventure on the Salish Sea Step aboard with The Salish Sea School for an unforgettable weekend designed to deepen your understanding of the Salish Sea’s most iconic residents. This is not just a sunset cruise — it’s an immersive journey that blends science, storytelling, and awe-inspiring encounters with orcas in their home waters. During this breathtaking evening on the water, you’ll experience the magic of golden-hour light as orcas surface against a backdrop of glowing skies and island silhouettes. Alongside an expert naturalist, you’ll uncover the fascinating world of these whales: how they communicate, hunt, raise their young, and pass down cultural traditions across generations. The learning continues off the water, too. Through exclusive virtual sessions with world-renowned orca researchers like Holly Fernbach of SR3, you’ll gain unique insights into current conservation challenges and the efforts underway to protect these endangered whales. Your journey begins with a virtual meet-and-greet to connect with fellow participants, then continues in a private online community where resources, discussion, and inspiration extend long after your sunset adventures. Please note: orcas are never guaranteed! What’s Included Virtual Kickoff: Meet your instructors and fellow participants. One Sunset Excursion (Sept 21, 2–7PM): Five-hour guided trips each evening, designed for intimate orca encounters in the golden glow of dusk. Researcher Access: Live Zoom sessions with leading orca researchers. Private Community: Exclusive Discord space for ongoing connection and learning. Travel Tips: Local lodging recommendations to make your stay seamless. Why It’s Worth It Sunset Magic: Experience orcas in the most breathtaking light of the day. Depth & Discovery: Go beyond a tour — learn about orca culture, behaviors, and ecology. Small Group Size: Ensures personalized learning and time for questions. World-Class Experts: Gain direct access to conservation leaders you won’t meet on a typical trip. Lasting Connection: Stay engaged through our private online community. Impact: Your enrollment supports The Salish Sea School’s mission to connect underserved youth with the sea through hands-on science and conservation education. Note: Must have 4 people enrolled!
